The Attorney General is now in possession of advice received from Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj on the resumption of hangings for those convicted of murder.
Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley made the revelation in the parliament this afternoon.
He was at the time responding to a question on the issue asked by Dr. Fuad Khan, Member of Parliament for Barataria \San Juan.
Dr. Khan wanted to get a status on this matter as to when citizens can expect action on it.
Six months ago Dr. Rowley revealed that Mr. Maharaj was hired to advise the AG on the issue.
The Prime Minister noted that a desk has been set up at the AG’s office to assess the advice received and also monitor cases before the court to see how progress can be made in this area.
