Residents of the Couva Housing Settlement, are now fearful of an attack after obscene warnings to the police, informants and residents were spray-painted on two buildings.
Annabelle Street residents, woke up on Thursday morning to discover that the walls of Buildings 11 and 12 had been spray-painted with threats.
Reports indicate that the threats are geared towards a contractor hired by the Housing Development Corporation. HDC employed a contractor to refurbish nine buildings along Annabelle Street, carrying out landscaping, plumbing, electrical and masonry works.
They say gangsters in the area have attempted to extort money from the HDC contractor.
On January 3, a gunman opened fire on a work crew and one of the bullets grazed a six-year-old girl. A supervisor was also threatened to stop work on Friday.
