Businessman Inshan Ishmael says he will contest the St Augustine seat as an independent candidate. He has called on constituents to reject UNC candidate Khadijah Ameen who he described as a non-performer.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, Ishmael promised to contest the August 10 polls once Ameen was selected. He has posted a video on social media, saying he already has a voting symbol in mind – an upward arrow – that voters can easily identify. He pleaded with constituents to throw their support behind him.

This morning, Mr. Ishmael spoke during a live interview on Power102FM’s Power Breakfast show. He said he is not a PNM supporter. Further to that, he said he has strong reasons not to support the Opposition, PNM.
