Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh says that people are reluctant to get vaccinated and warns of more deaths by Carnival if they do not.
Speaking with reporters on Wednesday at the San Fernando General Hospital, where he congratulated the parents of T&T’s first babies for 2020, Deyalsingh said “vaccine hesitancy” was also a problem there.
He said recently a statement was made in Parliament about the flu vaccine which gave the wrong impression that there was a controversy, when there was none.
He said that because of reckless statements, he has had to work ten times harder to counteract the negative publicity.
He urged persons to get vaccinated to protect themselves. On Thursday morning, during a televised interview, the Health Minister again explained that the vaccine protects against influenza and not the common cold. He urged pregnant women and all other vulnerable groups to get vaccinated.
