Health Minister says there’s a problem in executing the law at the country’s ports of entry

Minister Terrence Deyalsingh had been earlier, responding to a question posed in the parliament by Tabaquite MP, Dr. Surujrattan Rambachan.

The Opposition MP asked whether drugs labeled in Spanish were being approved by the local regulatory body, for distribution and sale.

Minister Deyalsingh said the problem is one that has escalated over time and noted that the illegal entry at ports, was not merely restricted to pharmaceutical drugs.

Minister Deyalsingh further admitted that there is a shortage of drug inspectors in the country, a situation that has possibly led to the proliferation of the illegal activity.
