Here’s What Happened in the Senate on Tuesday, Expletives and All!

Senate Vice President, Nigel De Freitas, ordered Opposition Senator Taharqa Obika, to the leave the chamber following his repeated outbursts during the contribution of National Security Minister, Stuart Young, on a private motion.

Minister Young was at the time giving his input on the private motion: Table the contract with Austal for procurement of Cape Class Patrol Boats, on Tuesday.

On several occasions, the Senate Vice President attempted to restore order during the proceedings but the heated exchanges continued.

Following the spectacle, Minister Young gave his take on what transpired.

 

The Senate Vice President then suspended the sitting for a short period.

The Senate Vice President has since ruled that Senator Obika apologize to the Chair, House, every member and the people of Trinidad and Tobago.

    Senate chair cannot first allow one to say one lie on many occasions and focus on one making a standing order, the bias has now gone overboard with the president and vice president of the Senate, is it because it’s election season that they boosting up the attack in senate?
