Trinidad and Tobago’s Arts and Culture Ministry is now under the purview of Tourism Minister, Randal Mitchell. The move was announced last month when the new ministers of the PNM led government were selected and sworn in. The move also came amid continued disgruntlement over a lack of attention paid to both sectors over many years.

News Power Digital spoke with Former Soca Monarch, Road March and Groovy Soca Monarch champion, Fay Ann Lyons- Alvarez on the matter. She said she anticipates with optimism, a forward thinking approach by those now tasked with the challenge of boosting effectiveness of both Ministries to the benefit of stakeholders and the country.

She spoke of the need at this time, to keep those within the creative industry, delivering on creativity.

Lyons- Alvarez, who, like all other Carnival stakeholders, has been grounded in Trinidad and Tobago since March, said she anticipates that new concepts to encourage further creative avenues can be forthcoming by the new minister and his team.
