The Ministry of Works and Infrastructure has said it is doing all in its power to diminish the level of inconvenience posed to drivers using the Beetham Highway.
Traffic along the highway backed up yesterday as work on the West bound lane continued day and night.
Several accidents were also reported along the highway which the police said is due to the loose gravel on the roadway.
Director of Highways Roger Ganesh said the project forms part of the Ministry plans to develop the major entrance into the capital city.
He also revealed some of the Ministry’s plans to mitigate traffic when the project moves forward.
The project is expected to be completed in July.
