Talk show host, Ian Alleyne, returned to the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Alleyne is facing a charge of resisting arrest in 2012, when he was held by police for breaching the Sexual Offences Act in relation to the airing of a rape video, for which he has already been convicted and fined.
On Monday, Mr. Alleyne returned to court with new representation, as Senior Counsel Israel Khan stood by the outspoken talk show host during his hearing, fuelling further speculation of a rife in his relationship with long time Attorney Om Lalla.
Senior Counsel Khan did most of the talking after Mr. Alleyne’s case was adjourned to October 18th, following their no-case submission.
Last month, Mr. Lalla, who was present when Alleyne was arrested last year and was named in witness statements for the trial, declared that he would not represent Mr. Alleyne in September, citing a conflict of interest.
However, a newspaper report on Sunday, suggested Alleyne’s appearance on the People’s Partnership platform last week might have soured his relationship with Mr. Lalla, who is rumoured to be considered as a candidate for the St. Joseph constituency for the Independent Liberal Party (ILP).
