The National Security Minister says the Ministry’s records show that during the period January 1st to November 30th 2017, a total of 409,123 nationals of other countries arrived in the country illegally.

Retired Major General Edmund Dillon told the House of Representatives of the total, 14,178 non –nationals overstayed their time and had not yet departed as of November 30th 2017.

He said information received from the Counter-Trafficking Unit indicates that for the period January 1st to December 31st 2017 a total of four people were reported as smuggled into this country from Venezuela.

Minister Dillon added that several measures have been put in place to address this issue.
