Immigration workers protest blocked

by | Jul 4, 2014

news 1The Industrial Court has granted an injunction preventing officers, servants, agents, members and staff of the Immigration Department from taking and/or continuing to take Industrial action.

The court said it was contrary to Chap 88:01 of the Industrial Relations Act.

A five member Court panel chaired by the President of the Industrial Court, Deborah Thomas–Felix sat in an emergency sitting to hear the application for the ex-parte application for the injunction.

A release from the Ministry of Labor said the effect of this injunction means that any employee who continues to take industrial action breaches a court order.
It added that the ruling means all workers must return to work today.
