The police service is being restructured to deal with the rising crime situation in Trinidad and Tobago.
They are also doing what they can to increase confidence in the police service.
This is according to Assistant Commissioner of Police North Western Division ACP Huggins.
He made the comments while speaking on the Power Breakfast Show on power 102.1 fm this morning.
He also addressed an issue that has been highlighted in the public domain for some time, that of officers abusing the use of their sirens.
ACP Huggins disclosed that if an officer was found to be guilty he would be dealt with.
He also commented that in dealing with the public, where applicable, police officers could show compassion.
