The wage negotiation impasse between Trinidad Cement Limited and the Oilfield Workers Trade Union went before the industrial court today.

TCL insists it wants workers to attend re-orientation sessions which are being conducted in a phased basis.

As such workers who are not due for re-orientation are being asked to stay off of the TCL compound.

General Manager of TCL, Satnarine Bachew, told members of the media outside the court today that there is no lockout at the company and added that there is only re-orientation taking place at the establishment.

The company’s action is being condemned by OWTU President General Ancel Roget
