The Government’s decision to dissolve the Tourism Development Company was halted by the Industrial Court yesterday.

General Council member of the Communication Workers Union, Greg Cumbermack said that the Government has no clear direction moving forward with the company as well as with staff.
Cumbermack said given the court’s ruling, members of staff are still employed with the company pending the next court date.

The decision to dissolve TDC was announced by Tourism Minister Shamfa Cudjoe during a post-Cabinet news conference at Magdalena Grand Beach Resort on March 8th.

Cumbermack who is also the Facilities Specialist for the TDC highlighted that back in March Minister Cudjoe informed the Union that TDC will be replaced by two separate entities.

Cumbermack said to date nothing has been mentioned about the way forward for workers as well as the future of Tourism for the country.
