Islamic Front Leader says no need to worry about violence in Enterprise

There need not be any concern that a new wave of violence will rise in the Enterprise area after a murder that took place on Sunday.

This is according to Leader of the Islamic Front Umar Abdullah.

Members of the Enterprise Community Council have revealed that the murder of Enterprise businessman Joey Basdeo on Sunday ended almost two months of peace and tranquillity in that community.

Forty year old Basdeo was driving out of Ruben Street, Enterprise, on Sunday afternoon when he was shot by a man on a bicycle.

Basdeo was taken to the Chaguanas Health Centre where he died.

His four-year-old, who was sitting in the back seat of the vehicle with Basdeo’s wife, was grazed by a bullet.

Speaking with News Power Now today he revealed that he was surprised that Basdeo was killed.

He sought to assure the public that this would not give rise to renewed violence in the Enterprise area.

Abdullah revealed that at the time of the killing he had been meeting with groups in the Enterprise area on various initiatives that would continue to foster the peace that had been prevailing for some time.
