Jamaat Al Muslimeen Leader, Yasin Abu Bakr, has been released from police custody. News Power Now has been reliably informed that no charges have been laid against him.
Last Monday, son of the Muslim cleric, Fuad Abu Bakr, said his father’s Long Circular home was searched by police who claimed to have been looking for arms and ammunition.
He claimed that during the search, no arms and ammunition were found.
However, he said police went on to arrest the Imam on the premise that he was being detained for questioning in connection with the murder of Dana Seetahal S.C.
Speaking with reporters after his release Wednesday afternoon Yasin Abu Bakr commended the police for their professional conduct in carrying out their duties.
