Police were today expected to approach Director of Public
Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard, to decide whether charges are to
be laid in the death of 2 year old Aliyah Johnson. Little Aliyah was pronounced dead at the Siparia Health Facility
on Easter Sunday. Officials at the facility said that signs of violence were found on
the child's body. And this was confirmed by an autopsy conducted on Wednesday at
the Forensic Sciences Center.
The autopsy found that little Aliyah died after being hit in
the stomach. Her cause of death was given as acute blood loss
and blunt force trauma to the abdomen.
A 23 year old man and a 20 year old woman remain in police custody.
