by | Oct 9, 2014

news 1A 32 year old KFC cashier accused of dousing a customer with hot oil, causing him to be hospitalized with secondary burns about his body, was yesterday placed on $45,000 bail.

Erica Fonrose whose address was given as Beetham Highway, Sea Lots, appeared in the Port of Spain Fifth Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Aden Stroude.

She was charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Fonrose was ordered to keep 100 meters away from the victim.

She will reappear in court on October 22.

The alleged incident occurred at the KFC outlet at the corner of Eastern Main Road and Sixth Avenue, Barataria on Monday.

Reports indicate that Gonzales had a verbal exchange with Fonrose over the size of the chicken he received.

It is alleged the victim slapped Fonrose as the argument escalated.

Fonrose allegedly retrieved a pot of oil from the kitchen and ran behind the victim as he was leaving. She then allegedly threw the hot oil on Gonzales, burning him about his upper body.

In an Immediate response to the incident KFC Restaurant issued a release, stating that they were shocked by the incident and did not condone any acts of violence at their restaurants.

The release said that the safety of their customers and their employees is their top priority.

KFC stated that they were co-operating fully with the police in their investigations and were conducting their own investigations into what may have taken place.
