La Brea fisher folk are yet to receive clearance from the relevant authorities to resume plying their trade following the December 18th 2013 oil spill.
Confirmation of this comes from La Brea Fishing Association President, Alvin La Borde.
The fisher folk have since been compensated by state owned Petrotrin, however, Mr. La Borde claimed the compensation benefits were halted earlier this month.
Mr. La Borde indicated that the association is also pushing ahead with two projects that will ensure sustainable employment.
