A lack of state funding is cited by the National Parang Association of Trinidad and Tobago for its decision to cancel the annual competition.
NPATT Public Relations Officer, Michael Lezama, in an exclusive News Power Now interview said although verbal commitments to the association to provide funding this did not materialize.
Mr Lezama said it various parang bands have been notified of the situation.
He explained that the association has been doing its part to rise funding but this has not generated enough money.
