The Beetham and Forres Park Landfills are now open and operational. This follows early morning protests by SWMCOL employees, over collective bargaining issues with management.

This morning, the SWMCOL employees barred trucks from entering the sites to deposit waste.

In a press statement , SWMCOL confirmed there was protest action at its Beetham, Guanapo and Forres Park landfills, which resulted in intermittent traffic heading into these sites. It added that the CEO and Management are currently working towards implementing a solution, in a timely manner.

At the time of the post, News Power Digital was told that trucks were being allowed to enter all sites to deposit waste. SWMCOL has apologized to members of the public for any inconvenience caused as a result of the action by its employees.

News Power Now understands that the representing union is yet to reach out to Acting CEO, Aisha Clarke-Roach or any member of management to hold talks regarding the protest. The union has been upset over what it termed “retrenchments” at SWMCOL. It has been calling for the reinstatement of 21 workers from the recycling division who were let go earlier this month.
