Lopinot Bon Air burn effigy of MP

NEWS GRAPHIC 10Constituents in a seat that is expected to be hotly contested in the next year’s General Elections has called for on their MP to resign.
The residents claimed MP for Lopinot Bon Air West, Dr. Lincoln Douglas is not representing their views on the controversial Constitution Amendment Bill.

Yesterday the residents burned an effigy of the MP to show their dissatisfaction with his decision to support the bill when it was debated in Parliament last week.
During his contribution to the debate Mr. Douglas expressed several concerns with the bill.

 

But, when the vote was taken in the early hour of Tuesday morning he voted for its passage.
Fellow Congress of the People Members, Winston Dookeran and Carolyn Seepersad-Bachan voted against it.

The Bill is scheduled to be debated in the Senate on next Tuesday 26 August.
