Local Catholic Church head says they are not against decriminalization of homosexuality

Archbishop Joseph HarrisArchbishop Joseph Harris has said suggestions by the Prime Minister that the Roman Catholic (RC) Church is actively pursuing efforts to have gay sex remain as a crime is false.

Archbishop Harris announced that the RC Church is not against decriminalizing homosexuality. On the same breathe he stated that the church objects to homosexuality as a life style.

He stated that any suggestion that the RC church was the sole group against the decriminalization is unfortunate, explaining that objections were raised by all at consultations on the states gender policy, because it was flawed.

Archbishop Harris remained coy on whether or not he wanted an apology stating that PM should know when she has made a mistake and do what is right.

Gay marriage is something that does not have the support of the church.

Archbishop Harris said any law like this should not force church to adopt such a practice.
