Global Education activist Malala Yousafzai has arrived in Trinidad and Tobago and complemented this country on its tuition free school system.
Malala is in T&T as part of the University of Trinidad and Tobago’s 10th anniversary celebration.
She stated that the T&T’s mountainous topography reminds her of home.
The 17 year old rose to fame in 2012 following an assignation attempt carried out by Taliban militants.
In early 2009, at the age of 11 she wrote a blog under a pseudonym for the BBC detailing her life under Taliban rule, their attempts to take control of the valley, and her views on promoting education for 22 girls.
The following summer, a New York Times documentary by journalist Adam B. Ellick was made about her life as the Pakistani military intervened in the region, culminating in the Second Battle of Swat.
