Man claims abuse at the hands of Police

POLICE-BRUTALITY-largeA 27 year old Piarco man is now taking legal action against the Police Service after he was allegedly abused by officers on Saturday.
Ashley Alexander said he was stopped by a lone Police Officer while approaching the Piarco intersection around 10 am.
He added that a short while later several other Police vehicles arrived on the scene.

Mr. Alexander said he was shocked by what happened next.

He was then placed in a Police vehicle and taken to the St. Joseph Police Station.

He said upon entering the station he was slapped by an officer and threatened.

He said after being accused of running from the Police he was then beaten by approximately eight officers.

He claimed the abuse included being beaten on the back with an electrical cord and having a firearm pointed to his face.
He said during all this he was claiming his innocence in the matter.

He was then taken to the Penal Police Station where he was released around 8:30 pm.

When contacted on the incident Public Information Officer of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, Inspector Wayne Mystar said the matter was being investigated.

    Gran Couva officers PCX 1189 on Boxing night put my family and me in danger.They instead of protecting and serving me made me reverse on a narrow road that night.They could have simply go back and allowed me to pass but no.Shame on thes two young afro officers.God doh sleep.
