Former Prime Minister, Patrick Manning

Former Prime Minister, Patrick Manning, is among two Members of Parliament who would be missing today’s ceremonial opening of the Fourth Session of the Tenth Parliament.

Opposition Chief Whip, Marlene McDonald said that it was revealed to her that Mr. Manning is currently in Washington D.C for follow-up medical treatment for the stroke which he suffered on January 23, 2012.

Mr. Manning who had missed the life of the last session of parliament due to illness, last spoke in the house when the house was debating The Administration of Justice (Electronic Monitoring) Bill in 2011.

He was sent to the Parliaments Privileges Committee after he accused Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar of using questionable funds to build her home in Philippine.Anil-Roberts-in-Parliament-300x189

Sports Minister, Anil Roberts will also miss the opening as he is currently in Barcelona attending the 15th FINA World Championships.

Minister Roberts is the coach of Olympic Bronze medalist George Bovell.
