Medical students upset

NEWS GRAPHIC 3The Trinidad and Tobago Medical Students’ Association (T.T.M.S.A.) is not happy with a proposal by the Ministry of

Health which would extend their internship period from one year to two years.

Students are also expected obtain temporary registration followed by an additional year in order to receive full registration status.

In a letter to the Dean of the Medical Faculty Professor Samuel Ramsewak the T.T.M.S.A. have asked for guidance regarding cross-campus transfer procedures to facilities where the regulations of the internship period are being adhered in accordance to policies set by the University of the West Indies.

The association added since students were not privy to the new structure which is anticipated to begin this year, it believes the goals set out would not be achieved.
