Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley says his one-day meeting at the Caricom-Mexico Summit which took place in Belize on Wednesday October 25th, 2017 was a useful one. He revealed Mexico has shown an interest in paying greater attention to the region, assisting in times of natural disasters, and having further cooperation with CARICOM Members.
The Prime Minister returned to local shores today.
Dr. Rowley said the trip also paved the way for continued talks on a for local goods to enter the Mexican market. He explained that this country’s Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Trade will continue discussions with Mexico’s leaders, where this is concerned.
Separately, on the issue of Trinidad’s recent flooding and matters of financial assistance, Dr. Rowley said the cabinet has approved $35 million for relief to families affected by the effects of the inclement weather. Dr. Rowley explained that he had indicated his desire to have this approved prior to his departure to Belize on Tuesday.
