Mentally Unstable Man Dies At Hospital, After Being Thrown Into Blazing Bush Fire

NEWS GRAPHIC 15A 48- year- old man who was reportedly bodily lifted and placed into a bush fire, last week Monday, has died at hospital.

Police say Michael Oudit, who was described as mentally unstable, succumbed to burns suffered to some 60% of his body, at the San Fernando General Hospital on Friday.

His death has been classified as murder and homicide detectives are now searching for three men, believed to be the culprits in the case.

Oudit had been walking along Ramai Rd in Penal when a vehicle pulled alongside him and three men got out and approached him. He was allegedly lifted and thrown into a nearby bushfire, before the men made off in the vehicle. There have been no arrests to date.

A post mortem on Oudit’s body will be done at the Forensic Sciences Centre.
