Merger Of Special Units Within The TTPS Yields Increase In Seizures Of Narcotics & Firearms.

ASP (Ag.) Vernly Gift of the Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit of the Police Service says the merging of the former Organized Crime Narcotics and Firearms Bureau with the former Criminal Gang and Intelligence Unit showed an increase in the seizure of narcotics and firearms over the past few months.

During the TTPS weekly media briefing, ASP Gift highlighted the following statistical data, as it relates to narcotics, firearms, and ammunition seizures, for the period January to November 7th of this year when compared to 2017.

The TTPS was able to seize 1155.10 kgs of marijuana, 225.61 kgs of cocaine, and 0.002 kgs of heroin.

ASP Gift said that there has been a 24% increase in the seizure of marijuana in 2018 as compared to 2017.

There has also been an increase in the seizure of cocaine by 45% in 2018 and thanks members of the public for their continued support with bringing information at hand to the TTPS.
