Met Office warns that heavy rains can pose threat to Caroni River area

Trinidad, and to a much lesser extent Tobago, have been experiencing cloudy conditions with periods of rain and showers, some of which have been heavy and thundery especially over southern Trinidad, the met office has reported.

This it says , due to an active Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone.

News Power Now spoke with Meteorologist Saide Shakeer  who told us we should expect  cloudy conditions, with widespread light to moderate showers over the next four to six hours.

She said this is likely to be accompanied by street or flash flooding due to heavy or prolonged downpours, and gusty winds may also be  experienced in some areas.

But she discounted the possibility of any Tropical Storm threat, watch or warning.

She further advised citizens who reside along the Caroni River to exercise caution when conducting  their activities during the course of the day.
