We have no other choice but to accept him.
This is according to President of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Social and Welfare Association (TTPSSWA) Michael Seales.
He had earlier commented that Acting Police Commissioner Williams had been doing a fantastic job, however he also claimed that he was not happy with the decision to retain him as Acting Police Commissioner.
He said that based on the approach by the Service Commission Association the (TTPSSWA) has no other choice but to accept him.
Mr. Seales says the Association is in favor of a candidate being chosen on the basis of meritocracy over seniority.
However he quickly clarified that this does not mean that they preferred Harold Phillip who had been acting in the position during Williams’ vacation.
He disclosed their issue lies with how the decision was made.
Mr. Seales noted that the Association is particularly concerned with the fact that there was not a unanimous decision to keep Acting Police Commissioner Williams.
