Michelle Lee Ahye, brilliant in international women’s sprinting this year before retreating for hamstring treatment, which flared up at last month’s Commonwealth Games, is set to return to action.
The Trinidad and Tobago now standout woman international sprinter – Kelly Ann Baptiste and Semoy Hackett out on doping-related matters – has been named as one of four national athletes to represent the Americas in the September 13 and 14th Continental Cup Track and Field Championships in Marrakech, Morocco.
Olympic javelin champion Keshorn Walcott, seasoned woman shot putter Cleopatra Borel and sprinter Richard Thompson are the other three Trinidad and Tobago invitees for the Americas challenge against the high-quality continental representations from Africa, Europe and Asia.
The TT four link with other Americas selectees like Jamaicans Nesta Carter and Veronica Campbell-Brown, Kittitian sprinter Kim Collins, Americans La Shawn Merritt, a 400-metre specialist and pole vaulter Jennifer Suhr and Javier Culson, a 400-metre hurdles srongman from Puerto Rico.
