Feedback from the Chaguanas Business Chamber indicates entrepreneurs have been complying with the new minimum wage requirement, which took effect on January 1st this year.
It was announced in the 2014 national budget by Finance Minister, Larry Howai, that the minimum wage would be increased from $12.50 to $15.
In News Power Now interview on Monday, Chaguanas Business Chamber President , Richie Sookai, said from information he has received the business operators are obeying the law on the minimum wage issue.
Commenting on another matter, Mr. Sookai said entrepreneurs in the Central borough have also expressed concern about a reported shortage of laborers.
