Minister in the Ministry of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs, Stuart Young, sent out a stern message to all citizens who engage in the use of fireworks during several festive occasions; one most recent was New Year celebrations.
Speaking on the Power Breakfast show on Power 102.1fm this morning, Minister Young said that under the summaries offences act it is an offence to release explosives and fireworks in any residential area, and an individual must possess a license to sell and release fireworks.
The Member of Parliament for Port of Spain North/St. Ann’s West Constituency said the lack enforcement is the dominating factor to why the country still hasn’t gotten a strong grip on controlling the sale and purchase of fireworks.
