The family of Tourism Minister Gerald Hadeed was plunged into mourning last night following news that his son-in-law was killed in a traffic accident along the southbound lane of the Uriah Butler Highway.
He has been indentifed as Russell Arthur Rooks, 51, of Helen Drive, Westmoorings.
According to reports Rooks was heading south when his car’s tire exploded causing him to lose control and crash into the median of the highway.
Officers of the Highway Patrol Branch noticed the mangled wreck and rendered assistance.
When Rooks was taken from his car he was barely alive.
He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mount Hope.
St Joseph police are continuing investigations.
