More Government condemnation for immigration protest

PM KamlaPrime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has returned to Trinidad and Tobago some 24 hours after she left to attend the 35th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of Caricom.

 
Speaking with the media last night Mrs. Persad-Bissessar criticized the Public Services Association for removing its members from Immigrations offices across the nation saying she would not allow the union to hold the country to ransom.

The Prime Minister said the protest affected the constitutional rights of citizens and she could not condone such action.

Last week employees removed themselves from the workplace citing health and safety concerns.

The injury of a Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission employee conducting maintenance work on a power line leading to the building , was cited as a reason for Immigration officers not to occupy the building.
