Individuals and organizations wishing to provide assistance to affected countries should contact the Office of the Disaster Preparedness and Management, the coordinating agency, by way of telephone at emergency number 511 or email at [email protected].

Meanwhile, earlier today Stuart Young, Acting Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs and Acting Minister of National Security, convened a meeting of key stakeholders to address the impact of and response to the passage of Hurricane Irma.

Discussions at the meeting focused on: coordinating mechanisms for providing assistance to Trinidad and Tobago nationals currently located in the affected territories, direct assistance by Trinidad and Tobago, this country’s supporting role in the regional response.

The ODPM, as a partner within the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), has identified persons to form part of a Rapid Needs Assessment Team and an Operational Support Team.

The Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force as a supporting agency, has also readied personnel and other assets.
