More wet weather expected over the next two days….

MET ServicesThe Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service says the adverse weather conditions affecting this country are as a result of the passage of the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).

The MET office in a release issued today said the rainfall pattern of predawn showers/thundershowers with an improvement towards evening is typical of the ITCZ during the rainy season and is expected to continue for the next 24 to 48 hours as the ITCZ remains in the area.

Gusty winds in excess of 45 kilometers and localized street and flash flooding may occur in the vicinity of heavy showers and thundershowers. Rivers of moderate carrying capacity are expected to over flow its banks.

The Met office added the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management, as the National Disaster Office, has alerted all first responder and emergency support agencies so that assistance can be rendered to affected persons.
