Moruga Murder Police charged

7 police officers are now facing three murder charges each after appearing in court yesterday in connection with the killings of 3 Moruga residents

The officers, Police Constables Antonio Ramdin, Roger Nicholas, Glen Singh, Renaldo Rivero, Safraz Juman, Kemraj Sahadeo and WPC Nicole Clement., appeared before Chief Magistrate Marcia Ayers-Caesar in the Port of Spain Eighth Magistrates Court.

The officers, attached to the San Fernando Robbery Squad, were charged with murder on Monday in relation to the police killings of Abigail Johnson, Alana Duncan and Kerron Eccles

The officers were represented by Senior Counsel Israel Khan, Subhas Panday and Rajiv Persad

Senior Counsel Khan requested that his clients be kept away from the general prison population and that the matter be dealt with expeditiously

The officers were later remanded into custody and will reappear at the Princes Town Magistrates Court for hearing on November 15th .

The instructions to charge the officers with the murders of were given by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr Roger Gaspard, on Monday evening.
