A 26-year- old Morvant man has been shot and killed by police. The man is said to have pointed a firearm at officers of the Special Operations Response Team who responded with shots, hitting Brandon Rojas about the body.
Reports state that at around 7:30am today, Rojas and other men had been assembled in an abandoned building when officers conducting an anti crime exercise came upon them. The group dispersed, however it is reported that Rojas stood up and pointed a firearm at the officers. The police reportedly responded in accordance with the Use of Force policy. He was subsequently taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
A firearm was recovered at the scene. The escaped prisoner is yet to be located.
