Residents state that around 11.45 am, a group of men with what they described as machine guns ran down the hill and opened fire.
Salandy tried to protect her baby, who dropped to the ground after she was killed.
Residents who witnessed what happened took the baby and siblings into an apartment.
They removed the baby’s blood-stained clothes and gave the baby a bath.
Both the baby and he mother were taken to the hospital.
A 16-year-old boy identified only as Reshaun, was also fatally shot in the incident. Friends of the second victim said this was the third time he had been shot.
