In a press release the MSJ stated that Mr. Robinson will be recorded in the history of Trinidad and Tobago as one of the most important political figures of their post-independence period.
They stated that Mr. Robinson must be remembered for the position he took in 1970 when he resigned his position in the PNM and was with the Oilfields Workers Trade Union in demanding the withdrawal of the public order bill.
Also paying his respect was San Fernando Mayor, Kazim Hosein. He said the former Prime Minister and President’s work will always be held in high esteem, referring to him as a distinguished leader and son of Tobago.
The Mayor’s office has indicated that a condolence book will be made available to the public for signature, adding that the national flag and city corporation flag will be flown at half-mast.
