The Movement for Social Justice held a Press conference today, condemning the Government’s proposals to have run-off elections included in this Country’s Constitution.

Last week Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar brought the Constitution Amendment Bill 2014 to Parliament with proposed changes to the current Constitution.

Leader of the MSJ David Abdullah said the Prime Minister abused her office by bringing this Bill to parliament.

Mr. Abdullah added that the democratic process is one where citizens should be involved.

He claimed the run- off elections proposals were never a part of public consultation and therefore the public has a right to decide whether or not it should be included in the Constitution.
