One of the participants in the 2013 public consultations on Constitutional Reform, Nalini Dial, says she is disturbed and alarmed, by the proposals offered by the Prime Minister, Kamla Persad Bissessar.
Ms. Dial who is the Political Leader for the National Coalition for Transformation said the party also submitted its own proposal.
In a release Ms. Dial stated that her party did include in its document the Right to recall, Fixed Term for Prime Minister and a Fixed Date for election.
However, the party believed that these should only be accepted and included in the Constitution, after having further conversations with the populace.
The party has however put up a ‘ red flag ‘ where the proposal of the ‘ run off ‘ ballot is concerned.
She stated this is seen as a direct contradiction of the first proposed Proportional Representation.
The NCT Executive will be meeting tomorrow to discuss in detail, what is being proposed by the Prime Minister.
They are also calling on the Election and Boundary Commission to state their position on the entire matter.
