National Security Minister Gary Griffith has denied making any attempt to militarize the police service.
He made the comments while contributing to the budget debate in the Lower House.
Minister Griffith said the Opposition People National Movement (PNM) had planned to purchase armored vehicles when they were in Government
He revealed that the number soldiers called out was small.
The minister pointed out that this was a regular occurrence when the PNM held power.
