The Joint Trade Union Movement says it has been mandated by over four hundred Shop Stewards, Branch Officers to identify a date and begin an aggressive campaign of mobilization in preparations for Day One of Resistance and National Shutdown.
It says other resolutions were passed unanimously by the Conference to begin the process of resistance to the Government’s/International Monetary Fund austerity measures.
In a media release JTUM explains as a first immediate step the COSSABO resolved to converge on the Office of the Prime Minister on Friday December 1ST for a candlelight vigil and other symbolic actions.
There will also be a series of workplace and community meetings scheduled by JTUM Leadership Council and in the absence of a land use policy that no agricultural land be used for housing or commercial use in anyway.
The statement noted the COSSABO also received a report from the Boycott Committee and mandated the JTUM Leadership Council to begin implementation of the Boycott of 10 companies that were identified to be boycotted as well as 10 alternative businesses to be supported but for strategic reasons were not named at this time.
The JTUM Leadership Council was mandated to put plans in place to organize a major launch for the boycott.
