NATUC says POS/Scarborough ferry workers are underpaid

NATUC General Secretary, Michael Anisette

Local captains, Chief Stewards and Chief Engineers that operate the Ferries between Scarborough and Port of Spain are coming in for high praise from General secretary of the National Trade Union Centre (Natuc), Michael Annisette.

He says that they have been working tirelessly to ensure passengers can still commute despite mechanical issues with the vessels.

Annisette claimed that they are underpaid and have to work under demanding conditions and the issue is not being addressed by the relevant authorities.

He said that they continue to work hard despite the allure of more lucrative offers internationally.

Speaking on TV6’s Morning Edition Program this morning he sought to give an example of what the local officers deal with in the execution of their duties.
