Workers of the Port of Spain Corporation Sanitation Department have resumed duties after a two day strike.
They were protesting a decision by the Corporation to stop overtime payments on weekends for permanent workers.
The union met with Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation, Winifred David yesterday.
However, Vice President of the Amalgamated Workers Union, Michael Prentice said negotiations between the corporation and the union have broken down.
Mr. Prentice stated while he understood the complaints of the public on the pile up of garbage that occurred in some areas, the issues need to be addressed.
He claimed the workers would refrain from protest action until the next negotiation meeting on May 5.
