Minister in the Ministry of the People and Social Development, Vernella Alleyne-Toppin announced a new initiative being taken by her Ministry that would benefit the nation’s children.
The minister announced a new mapping system that would pinpoint the exact location of children at all times.
She made the announcement while paying a courtesy visit to the relatives of murder victims nine-year-old Jadel Holder and 15-year-old Jamal Braithwaite, at their home at Petunia Avenue, Morvant.
Alleyne-Toppin expressed condolences to the grieving relatives, including the boys’ mother Michelle Holder, for their loss.
She informed the family that the government was willing to provide assistance and counseling to the family.
Holder revealed that she was grateful for the offer and said that she was both happy and thankful.
The Minister stated that they communicated with the Minister of Education Dr. Tim Goopiesingh on the initiative.
the Ministry of the People would carry out a biometric survey where children would be marked so that their whereabouts would be known constantly.
